When I began to ponder (yes, ponder) on the things to throw into my summer bucket of lists, I immediately thought gratis, gratuit or FREE . I mean, show me one person who doesn’t like to get free things or at least a good deal. As I began to do my research on events and activities I could drag my friends along to, I began to realize that Vancouver really does have a lot of awesomely fun AND free activities to get up to if you’re, shall we say, on the more frugal side of the spectrum like moi.
However, some of the activities will require a bit of spending but with the help of apps like Groupon, I see great deals in my future. I know some of you are probably doubting me right about now, after all, Vancouver is the most expensive city to live in North America so how free is free when it come to having fun in our beautiful city. But, with the help of Google and Groupon, you can find activities to get up with for a great deal.
As I write this blog, the sky is somewhat blue, the air is somewhat warm and the sun is somewhat out but I have hope that by August 8th, the sky will be blue, the air will be warm and the sun will be out to be the best day to partake in Vancouver’s largest water fight at Stanley Park. I intended to attend this event last year but wasn’t able to as I was a tad busy hanging swim suits and folding shorts at my retail position at the time. Not a good time. Anyways, this year I am determined and will be ready with my water pistol. Check out the Facebook event at this link https://www.facebook.com/vancouverwaterfight/
To keep to the water fun theme, another item on my list is the Slide and the City event inNorth Vancouver. This event isn’t free but it is definitely worth it because what could be better than sliding down a 1000 foot slip and slide on a rubber swim ring on a hot summer afternoon. Now, this may sound dangerous but I promise when you watch the video on their website at https://www.slidethecity.com, you too will add this activity to your list.
There are a lot more things this summer that I would like to do or achieve. As much as Iwould love to engage in fun outdoor activities the whole summer, there are steps I also want to take in order to professionally develop myself and those things are going in my list too. To given you an idea of what I would like to achieve this summer, here is my bucket list:
● Go to the PNE theme park
● Attend Squamish Music Festival
● Hike up Grouse Mountain
● Take Hip Hop dance classes
● Take piano lessons
● Go kayaking at Granville Island
● Go bungee jumping
● Travel somewhere outside Canada
● Take online finance classes
● Make at least 20 new connections by actively networking
● Start my fashion blog
I definitely have a lot more things I would love to accomplish this summer but for now this is a start and I’m on my way to crossing a few of these out.
Wish me luck!
