After months of near-constant cloud coverage and nonstop rain, the sun finally starts to show its bright, beautiful face around May and Vancouver becomes so fun and vibrant. I have compiled a list of my favourite summer activities.

Centennial Seawalk
West Vancouver
This scenic walk is a must-visit in Vancouver. It’s a 1.7 km walk from Ambleside beach to Dundrave beach. The walk provides stunning views of Burrard Inlet, the mountains, and the city of Vancouver. It’s the perfect place to go if you love the Stanley Park Seawall but want to try out a less-busy spot.

The Khatsahlano Street Party
Kitsilano, Vancouver

The Khatsahlano Street Party is one of the most fun events of the summer. It spans 10 blocks and features amazing live music, cool vendors, and delicious food trucks. It’s one of my favourite free summer festivals and is definitely worth checking out. This summer, it’s happening Saturday, July 11th from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.

By Donation Day
Vancouver Art Gallery
Situated in the heart of Downtown Vancouver is the historic Vancouver Art Gallery. The Gallery hosts amazing exhibitions and houses incredible artworks from the likes of Emily Carr to Pablo Picasso. It’s a classic museum in the city because they have a good mix of traditional and modern art. The first Friday of every month from 4 pm – 8 pm, admission is by donation. Make sure to book in advance because spots fill up fast!

Shipyards Night Market
North Vancouver

A great way to spend a hot summer evening is at Shipyards Nightmarket in North Vancouver. It’s a free market that happens every Friday, 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, from May to September. Local vendors and food trucks set up shop all down the waterfront. It’s a perfect, fun summer evening.

Lynn Canyon
North Vancouver

Lynn Canyon is the perfect place for a fun summer adventure because it’s a chill hike with beautiful scenery, a suspension bridge, waterfalls, and a natural swimming pool. It’s the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day by walking in the shade or taking a dip in the natural pool. Lynn Canyon is dog-friendly and accessible by public transit and car!
These are just a few of my favourite summer activities, but Vancouver truly comes to life in the summer, so there are many other activities happening all over the city! Make sure to go out this summer and check them out!
