UBC Career Days

UBC Career Days

You might have seen posters that tell you how useful it would be for you to go to the UBC Career Days, or your professors might have advised you to go there. Maybe your Residence Advisor even organized a floor trip to the SUB. This all hasn’t convinced you yet to attend? Let me tell you a little bit more about UBC’s Career Days from a student perspective and my own experience.

In my first year at UBC, I was curious and wanted to find out what these infamous Career Days were all about. Could I maybe find out more about my future career? What programs and organizations are out there? I was even hoping that maybe I could meet some great people who could help me on my path!

All the posters turned out to be right; going to UBC’s Career Days was one of the best decisions I have made so far as a student. I met awesome people and made great connections with possible future employers. I also scored an internship in Costa Rica for the following summer.

It all started with a simple “Hello!”, and after talking for a bit, I realized that this organization’s goal and passion is exactly what I am passionate about. I was only a first year student, 5 weeks into University, I still had so much to learn, but I was convinced that this organization could help me on my path. They loved that I took the initiative, showed enthusiasm, and 8 months later I found myself in Costa Rica, helping a great organization build up their foundation.

I can’t promise you an internship for next summer, a job after school, or if the organizations and connections will be the right ones for you, but if you don’t go, you will never find out!

Happy exploring:
