Online Writing Community

UBC-Wide Writing Communities

The Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication (CWSC) is introducing two new Online Writing Communities to help mitigate social isolation. We invite any and all members of UBC Vancouver, from undergraduate students to faculty, to gather for a few hours each week to write alone—together. It’s our hope that an Online Writing Community will help everyone stay motivated and stay connected.

The Online Writing Communities will be held from 9am-11am on Tuesdays and from 2pm-4pm on Wednesdays. They will take place via Zoom and will be facilitated by a CWSC employee, who will lead brief opening and closing discussions and employ the Pomodoro technique throughout. Registrants receive the Zoom link 1 day before.

NOTE: This writing community is limited to UBC Vancouver doctoral candidates.

Facilitator: Niall Mann is a PhD candidate in French literature. He holds degrees in philosophy, music, and Spanish and has worked as a translator and editor. He has a passion for purposeful prose and lifelong learning.
