  1. Hi,

I’m in charge of training young women for a counsellor type position. I was wondering who I would contact to find out if there was someone who could come in a present a counselling skills workshop for our group of twenty on the Tuesday after reading week

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Lorie,

We do not have a bookable computer lab in the Chapman Learning Commons. You may wish to contact the Faculty of Arts. They occasionally have labs available to book: http://www.arts.ubc.ca/index.php?id=3877

    Kind regards,

  3. I am starting the MN-NP program at the School of Nursing in the fall. I am interested in taking any course that will assist me in either public speaking, accelerating academically and/or acquiring personal coaching services. Could you direct me to someone who could help me?

    Thank you,

    Kelly Hick

    1. Hi Kelly,

We’re thrilled that you’re taking a proactive approach to learning! While there’s no courses offered on this sort of thing, there’s certainly lots of resources for you. Your best bet would be to check out the Toolkits on our website. Under the tab Student Toolkits, we have learning modules, videos, and tips on topics like Time Management, Presentation Skills (Public Speaking), Textbook Reading, and Exam Prep which will help you holistically improve your approach to school. We also offer Tutoring and Peer Academic Coaching. Once school starts, setting up a regular appointment with a Peer Academic Coach might be the best way to stay on top of your work and talk with someone who is trained to help you succeed!

      Best of luck,
      Gillian

    2. Hi Kelly, you can also try one of the many toastmasters clubs on campus:
